News protection for prop traders: your firm's news windows, before they hit

A profitable trade can still break a prop firm rule if it was placed inside the firm's news window. News protection works out those windows for each of your accounts from the firm's own published rule, the account's phase and program, and the instruments the account trades. You get an alert about 10 minutes before each window, the Chrome extension shows it on the trading platform, and each month you see which windows you stayed out of. It is free on every plan.

What News Protection does

Only your accounts, only your firm's rule

A window appears when the firm restricts news trading with a stated window, the rule covers the account's phase or bound program, and the release moves an instrument that account trades. Allowed, varying and unknown rules give no window.

How windows are worked out

Alert 10 minutes before

An in-app notification names the release, the account and the window, and reaches web push, Discord or Telegram if you set them up.

On the trading platform

The free Chrome extension shows a desktop notice and a banner. On TradingView it asks you to confirm before a new order while a window is open on that account.

Monthly report

Every firm news window on your accounts in the month, and whether a trade on that account was opened or closed inside it.

Who it's for

  • Funded traders at firms that restrict trading a few minutes around high-impact releases.
  • Traders with accounts at several firms, each with a different news rule.
  • Anyone who has lost a payout or an account to a news-trading rule.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add your accounts

Pick the firm, and bind the program and size where you can, so phase and program rules are known.

  2. 2

    Get your trades in

Sync or import, so each account's instruments are known.

  3. 3

    Watch the windows

Open Protection → News windows for the next 48 hours, and keep the extension running on your platform.

  4. 4

    Check the month

Open the monthly report on the 1st to see the windows you stayed out of and any trades inside.

Limits to know before you rely on it

  • Windows come from our researched list of firm rules, dated and sourced. Firms change rules; confirm on your firm's site.
  • Releases are matched by currency (and oil for energy releases), so a firm that restricts only certain events or instruments may restrict fewer windows than shown.
  • The extension confirm is on TradingView only, and it is a confirm, not a hard block: closing a position can be allowed or required by the firm.
  • An account with no trades and no other accounts' trades has no known instruments, so it gets no windows yet.

Firms that restrict news trading with a stated window in our researched list of firm rules. Firms that allow news trading, or whose rule varies by program without a bound program that says otherwise, get no windows.

No hard block. On TradingView the extension asks you to confirm before a new order while a window is open, because closing a position can be allowed or required by your firm.

Yes: News window alerts in Settings → Notifications for the app, and Firm news windows in the extension popup.
