News Protection
Your firm's news windows on each account: alerts 10 minutes before, extension confirm, monthly report.
Many prop firms restrict trading for a few minutes around high-impact news on some or all accounts. News protection works out those windows for your own accounts, warns you about 10 minutes before each one, shows it on the trading platform through the Chrome extension, and sends you a monthly report of the windows you stayed out of. It is free on every plan.
Which windows you get
A window appears on an account only when all of these are true:
- The firm restricts news trading with a stated window in minutes, according to our researched list of firm rules (built from each firm's own help pages, with the date checked).
- The rule covers the account: its phase (some firms only restrict funded accounts), or for rules that apply to some programs only, the program the account is bound to in Accounts says news trading is not allowed. If the bound program says news trading is allowed, there is no window.
- The release moves an instrument the account traded in the last 90 days, for example USD releases for NQ, ES or EURUSD. An account with no trades yet uses the instruments of your other accounts.
Firms whose rule varies, is unknown or does not restrict news give no window. Nothing is guessed. See all windows on Protection → News windows.
Alerts
| Where | What you get |
|---|---|
| In the app | A notification about 10 minutes before the window opens, naming the release, the account and the window. |
| Web push, Discord, Telegram | The same alert, if you set up those channels in Settings → Notifications. |
| Chrome extension | A desktop notice 10 minutes before, and a banner on the platform from 30 minutes before until the window closes. |
Turn the app alerts off with News window alerts in Settings → Notifications, and the extension's with Firm news windows in its popup.
On the trading platform
- TradingView: while a window is open on the account you are trading, the extension asks you to confirm before a new order goes through. It is a confirm, not a hard block, because closing a position can be allowed or even required by your firm and the extension cannot tell an opening order from a closing one.
- Tradovate and Tradesea: banner and desktop notice only; orders are not intercepted on these platforms.
Monthly report
Protection → News windows → Monthly report lists every firm news window on your accounts in a month and whether any trade on that account was opened or closed inside it. On the 1st of each month you get a notification with last month's result when there was at least one window.
